Being offered for sale is the LARGE, VERY RARE antique GENERAL/COUNTRY STORE "BELFAST CEYLON" TIN TEA BIN/CONTAINER (lithography and/or hand-painted lettering, border(s) & primary graphic over black japanning (at all panels, excluding base) with unknown age/origin (no company information found online - appears to be an extremely rare, likely short-lived brand - likely from Sri Lanka or another South Asian country (our best guess)) from circa the late 19th or very early 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. CONDITION NOTES:

Good/G+ antique condition with mostly moderate but some severe cosmetic wear throughout (many small/medium sized dings, dents, creases, scuffs, scratches, stains, worn/missing areas of japanning and/or lithography, etc.) from normal, frequent use over the years but NO breaks or repairs. Back-left side/corner has a medium sized crease/dent and base has two small rusted-through holes at one corner (see green arrows in 11th pics). Lid/hinges are solid & strong. Original brass handle securely attached. Entire piece features outstanding, rich patina throughout. All-in-all, a fantastic example of very rare tin tea container!! See pics.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 19-3/4" wide x 22" tall x 19-1/4" deep, overall. Door opening is 14-7/8" wide x 7-3/4" tall. Weighs 16 lbs. 2.0 oz..
