Being offered for sale is the antique BROAD / HEWING AXE (looks like an Ohio Pattern - single bit, single bevel - with an amazing beautiful hardwood handle - possibly original and certainly old) marked "F. MORRIS" and a line of illegible, plus an "H" on the third line (see 3rd pic) from circa the mid -to- late 19th or the very early 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential.

CONDITION NOTES:

Good/Very Good antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (typical of its age) but we see NO major breaks or repairs. Blade edge is smooth and remains very sharp. Some chip/nicks around other edges (see pics). Handle is solid, also with NO breaks or repairs. Firmly attached with ZERO wobble. Oh, and did I mention how super sexy it is?!? Outstanding patina throughout. See pics.

 

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 34" long, overall. Blade head is 8-5/8" wide and edge is 8" tall, tip -to- tip. Weighs 6 lbs. 5.0 oz..
