Being offered for sale is the antique DOVETAILED HARDWOOD BLANKET CHEST (child/doll/small size) by unknown maker (no visible maker's marks...possibly/likely AAFA/homemade folk art) from circa the mid -to- late 19th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
Good/Very Good antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear but remains structurally rigid & strong, with awesomely large dovetail joints. Hinges are loose, due to the crude nature of their construction but remain functional and as long has they are handled gently, are in no eminent danger of breaking. NO key included...and it looks to us that the lock may not be functional anyway. If you are able to find a working key, the lock may or may not work (but who cares, right?!?). Features superbly rich patina to all materials throughout and some killer old red paint stains at interior (see pics 4, 6 & 8). Front panel has a hand-carved "N*2*" and "IGD" and also "IGD" (in smaller font) is stamped at multiple places all around the box's exterior. Lid rests level when closed and box "feet" have no wobble. All-in-all, an extraordinary old chest with gorgeous eye-appeal!! See pics.
Measures 24" wide x 11" deep x 9-3/4" tall. Weighs a solid 10 lbs. 6.0 oz..
