Vintage "TELESCOPE BINOCULARS" Finger-Jointed WOOD BOX by SEIKI SEISAKUSHO Japan

1 In stock

Tool Boxes, Chests

Being offered for sale is the vintage FINGER-JOINTED WOODED STORAGE BOX (originally held "Telescope Binoculars" (which are NOT included)) by "HIKARI HONKO OPTICAL SEIKI SEISAKUSHO CO., LTD" (as per 'Google Translate'), from circa the mid 20th century (best guess - company founded in 1946), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

Very Good vintage condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (i.e. dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc. and mild finger-joint separation throughout) but remains fairly structurally rigid & mildly strong (approaching the fragile side but unless you plan to store anvils in it, you shouldn't have a problem). Approx. 3" wide chunk of lid rim is missing (right side of front - see red arrow in 8th pic). One of the two hinges is missing (1) of its (3) screws (2 remain - see red arrow in 5th pic). Both turn-hook latches present and operational. Hinges are a little worn/loose from years of supporting the weight of the open lid (it should have been designed & constructed with a chain to take said weight) but are still holding strong. Features original vinyl (we think) nameplate/manufacturers tag at front (see 3rd pic for partial translation) and original paper label at underside of lid. Outstanding, rich patina throughout. Very atypical, unusual & interesting old box!! See pics.

Measures 23" wide (excluding the (2) 1" handles) x 10-5/8" deep x 11-1/2" tall. Weighs 15 lbs. 11.0 oz..
