Being offered for sale is the antique SHIPWRIGHT'S FOOT/POLE ADZE by WILLIAM HORTON (maker previously unknown, please disregard the green text in 4th pic) of New York, NY, from circa the early -to- mid 19th century (pre Horton & Arnold, which dates it to 1837-1853), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. Very Good antique condition with moderate overall wear from normal use over the years but NO breaks or repairs. Blade is very sharp and has just a few tiny nicks. Minimal rust and minor areas of light pitting throughout. Vast majority of original red japanning remains (except at top of blade). See pics.
Measures 10-1/2" long, overall. Blade is 4-3/8" wide. Weighs 2 lbs. 7.0 oz..
