Being offered for sale is the antique TWIST-HANDLE-ADJUST, PATENTED "HEWET'S UNION WRENCH" (marked at one side of head, see 2nd pic) manufactured by "FOWLE & CO. SOLE AGENTS" (marked at opposite side of head, see last 2 pics) of New York, circa 1864 (as per patent number 41,995, granted on Mar. 22, 1864), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. CONDITION NOTES:
Good/VG antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (small dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc.) throughout from normal use over the years but NO breaks or repairs. Fully functional tool. Twist handle adjust function works great - spins smooth and holds tight at any chosen point along the entire 1-11/16" range. Lightly cleaned using wire-wheel, so virtually zero rust but revealed minor -to- moderate pitting throughout. Original wood handle remains solid, strong and features rich patina. All-in-all, a killer example of a very scarce monkey wrench!! See pics.

Measures 10" long, with jaws shut. Jaws are 7/8" deep/wide and open 1-11/16" max. Weighs 1 lb. 12.6 oz..
