ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Being offered for sale is the vintage/antique POST/MORTISING AXE marked "D. SIMMONS & CO..." (see 2nd pic), from circa the early -to- mid 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

CONDITION NOTES:

Good/VG antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear throughout (i.e. dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc.) but NO major breaks or repairs. Virtually zero rust but minor -to- moderate pitting throughout. Blade is on the dull side - would need a fresh sharpening prior to any practical use. Handle looks to be original and has superb patina, artfully gorgeous imperfects and NO major breaks or repairs. Remains structurally solid & strong. Head is secure to handle but has just a little wobble/play - driving a wedge in and stiffening her up would be advised before regular use. See pics.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 20-3/4" long, overall. Bit is 9-1/2" long x 2" at double-beveled edge. Butt end is 2-1/4" x 1-1/2". Total weight is 4 lbs. 7.5 oz..
