Draw Knives
Being offered for sale is the antique COOPERS CHAMFER DRAW KNIFE (L-shaped tool w/ 5" concave/curved blade) by L. & I.J. WHITE of Buffalo, N.Y., circa the mid 19th century (as per "1837" date stamped in blade), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
Good/Very Good antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear from normal use over the decades. Blade edge has many tiny nicks but remains pretty darn sharp. Maker's mark is weakly incised at one side of blade (see 3rd & 4th pics). The one wood handle looks to be original and even has a cool smooth/worn-down area where your left index finger rests (from frequent use...just imagine how many cool projects this tool was used to build during its 175+ years of existence!). Light layer of rust & minor -to- moderate areas of pitting at iron throughout. Superb patina to all materials throughout. Perfect for both display/collector purposes and/or for practical use (would just need a fresh smoothing & sharpening of the blade...we leave this up to you). See pics.
Measures 15-1/2" wide x 9-1/2" tall, overall. Blade is 3-1/4" tall x 5" long (at edge). Wood handle is 1-1/2" diameter and exposed iron grip end is 1" diameter. Weighs 4 lbs. 1.0 oz..
