Porcelain Danger Sign - Very Cool - Antique - Highly Collectible! Rare!
This is a very cool and rare antique porcelain over steel warning sign was found behind a wall in an abandoned tunnel of the Hudson & Manhattan NY Railroad. Full text says "Danger Do Not Get Off Here". Measures 9 x 12 inches. Red trim, white background and red letters.
In awesome condition for it's age. Appears to have been in a frame at some point and there are some surface scratches and marks (please see photos for actual item condition).
From the Path rail history website:
"PATH was originally known as the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad, and later as the H&M Hudson Tubes. The railroad was first planned in 1873 to link the major railroad stations in New Jersey with New York City, but early construction was intermittent. The first trains ran in 1907, and revenue service started between Hoboken and 19th Street at midnight on
February 26, 1908.
This is an amazing addition to any collection!
