Hammers
Being offered for sale is the vintage/antique BLACKSMITHS' / FARRIER'S FITTING HAMMER by unknown maker (no visible maker's mark(s)), from circa the mid -to- late 19th century (best guess (for the head only) based on the confirmed dates of many other items acquired within the same lot of antique tools - handle looks to be mid 20th century or so), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
CONDITION NOTES:
Very Good/VG+ antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear from normal use over the years but NO breaks or repairs. Head has been lightly cleaned using wire wheel, which sadly did not reveal any maker's marks. It is firmly attached to handle. Ultra strong! Handle looks to be a somewhat recent replacement but certainly has some age to it and features (at one side) killer horizontal striped stains/burns/patina/we aren't sure but who cares...it looks bad-ass no matter what caused it! Feels like a must-have hammer for any serious collector!!?! See pics.
DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:
Measures 16" long, overall. Handle is 14" long and head is 2" tall x 4" wide with 1-5/8" diameter face. Total weight is 2 lbs. 4.0 oz.. Head alone is approx. 2 lbs..
