Being offered for sale is the vintage/antique, "CAYUGA" DOUBLE BIT AXE (either "Reversible" or "Full Peeling" pattern, with a huge embossed/incised Indian head logo at one side) by "BARKER ROSE & KIMBALL INC." with OLD (if not original) SOLID WOOD HANDLE from circa the early 20th century (best educated guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential.

CONDITION NOTES:

Very Good/VG+ vintage/antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear throughout but NO major breaks or repairs. Virtually zero rust and very little, very minor pitting throughout. Blade has a sizable nick (see 5th pic) and a few small nicks throughout (see pics) but remains quite sharp. Handle looks to be original or otherwise very old. It has some chunks missing from butt but otherwise in excellent shape and features outstanding, rich patina. It is locked into head nice & tight with ZERO play/wobble. Fantastic example! Ready to use or proudly display!! See pics.

 

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 29-1/2" long, overall. Axe head is 9-3/4" wide x 3-1/16" tall (at center-point) x 7/8" deep/thick. Blade edges are approx. 5" long. Total weight is 4 lbs. 5.0 oz..
