Being offered for sale is the antique SOCKET CHISEL by "A.W. CROSSMAN" (weakly stamped/incised at top of chisel, see 3rd pic), from circa 1850-1883 (as per internet research), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale lightly cleaned/spruced up but a thorough detailing/restoration may be required to bring to its full potential. Ready to use or proudly display! QUOTED INFO FOUND ONLINE (unverified): "...mid 19th century cast steel "W. CROSSMAN" on the steel! Amory W. Crossman was known to have made draw knives, chisels, metal planes, and other tools from 1850-1883 in West Warren Mass. U.S.A.. We see very few of the Crossman tools, which were often marked WARRENTED CAST STEEL..."

CONDITION NOTES:

Very Good antique condition with minor overall wear throughout but NO breaks or repairs. NO damage at socket end. Lightly wire-wheel cleaned to remove rust, which revealed areas of minor -to- moderate pitting throughout (see pics). Blade smoothed & freshly sharpened. Wood handle is solid & strong with NO damage and very nice patina. Fully functional, ready to use collectible old tool!! See pics.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 16-7/8" long, overall (measured blade to handle butt). Blade to socket end is 12-1/4" long. Blade is 1-1/4" wide. Please see ruler in pictures for size/scale reference. Additional measurements shall be provided upon request. Total weight is 1 lb. 11.0 oz..
