ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Being offered for sale is the antique SMALL-SWORD / RAPIER (possibly American Revolutionary War or French-Indian War era) by unknown maker (no visible maker's mark(s) - possibly French) from circa the 18th century (best guess, pending a more accurate identification), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

CONDITION NOTES:

WE ARE NOT "SWORD GUYS" but will describe to the best of our abilities. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS...help me help you.

Overall rigid, solid & strong. Original wire grip wrapping missing (assuming that's what was used) and wood damaged (see pics). It is beat-up but remains rather strong and firmly in place. Blade has minimal rust and moderate pitting throughout (more pitting near tip - more rust near guard, see pics) but both edges remain quite sharp. Approximately 1-1/2" of blade tip is bent (see pics 8 thru 11) and a less dramatic bend just shy of midpoint, approximately 15" from tip (see 8th pic). Missing rivet/hardware at knuckleguard-pommel connection point (see 7th pic). Holds in more-or-less the correct position but will tend to twist if not handled with care. We see no other breaks or repairs. The solid brass/bronze guard, knuckleguard & pommel are enveloped in superbly deep, rich patina. See pics.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 38-7/8" long, overall. Blade is 31-5/8" long x 7/8" wide (at widest, at guard). Weighs 1 lb. 7.0 oz..
