Tool Boxes, Chests
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Being offered for sale is the antique DOVETAILED HARDWOOD MACHINIST CHEST / TOOL BOX by unknown maker (illegible maker's mark at bottom, see 10th & 11th pics) from circa the late 19th or early 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
CONDITION NOTES:
Good/Very Good antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (i.e. many small, medium & large scuffs, scratches, stains, dings, dents, etc.) throughout but NO major breaks or repairs. Remains structurally rigid & ultra strong, thanks to the dense hardwood wood and awesomely large dovetail joints. The right side handle is broken (see red arrows in 6th, 7th & last pics). The other (5) brass handles/pulls and all (8) of the decorative & protective brass corner brackets are present and in good shape. Both steel hinges (with brass/bronze finish) are solid & strong. Brass lock may or may not be fully functional (got it to click when checking our collection for a replacement key to include - pretty sure it is functional, just in need of correct key). NO key included. Drawer liners look fairly new (likely replaced by previous owner). Features superbly rich patina to all materials throughout. Lid rests level when closed and chest sits flat, with no annoying wobble. All-in-all, an extraordinary old chest with extraordinary eye-appeal!! See pics.
DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:
Measures 25-1/4" wide x 11-1/4" deep x 13" tall. Please see ruler in pictures for size/scale reference. Additional measurements shall be provided upon request. Weighs a hefty, solid 34 lbs. 10.5 oz..
