ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Being offered for sale is the antique CAST IRON SICKLE BLADE BAR SHARPENER (mounted to wood block) by "McCORMICK" (embossed at top (see 3rd pic) - noteworthy: no mention of "Deering" unlike so many I've seen - possible early example?) of "CHICAGO U.S.A." from circa the early 19th or 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
CONDITION NOTES:
Looks to be in Good/VG antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear from normal use over the years. Looks to be missing a long rod (guessing it is used for leverage to apply additional pressure by hand - in any event, a simple replacement part). One side of original wood handle grip is cosmetically damaged (see 5th pic). Gears rotate smooth and we see no other breaks or repairs. All that being said, since we are not experts on everything we sell, it still may or may not need additional replacement parts and/or tweaking and/or repair to bring to full working order. Entire piece features outstandingly rich patina. See pics.
DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:
Measures approximately 11" wide x 17" deep (including handle) x 12" tall (excluding handle). Total weight is 19 lbs. 11.5 oz..
GENERAL NOTE: If you are viewing this on a mobile phone or tablet and the pictures are blurry when you zoom in, be sure to check that your browser is set to "Full Website Version", as the mobile browsers often reduce image quality in favor of speed.
