Being offered for sale is the vintage/nearly antique STANLEY NO. 140 RABBET & BLOCK PLANE (smooth base - Type 3 or later - Nickel Cap, Rosewood Knob, no patent date at sidewall (disqualifying it as a Type 2 - but that's where our book stops - we are not sure how many Types they made of these No. 140's)), from circa 1935-1943 (1935 determined by logo design at top of blade & 1943 was the last production year), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential.

CONDITION NOTES:

Very Good/VG+ vintage condition with minor -to- moderate overall cosmetic wear from normal use over the years but NO breaks or repairs. Both original flat-top sidewall screws present (this plane is so often found missing these). Minimal rust & pitting. Vast majority of the original japanning remains. Knuckle cap tightening wheel & blade adjustment dial both present and work like-new. Skewed cutting blade is smooth & sharp. Fully functional and ready to use!! See pics.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:

Measures 7" long, overall x 2" wide (measured at base & outer edges of sidewalls). Skewed blade is 1-11/16" long, measured along edge (1-5/8" wide, measured perpendicular to sidewalls). Weighs 1 lb. 10.4 oz..
