Being offered for sale is the vintage EXTRA LARGE (big boy! - see below for dimensions) GERMAN CHEF KNIFE / SABATIER (high carbon steel, wood handle, 3-brass rivets) by GUSTAV EMIL ERN of Solingen, Germany, circa the early -to- mid 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
CONDITION NOTES:
Very Good/VG++ vintage condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (small dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc.) throughout from normal use over the years but NO breaks or repairs. Lightly cleaned using wire-wheel, so virtually zero rust but areas of minor pitting throughout. Remains quite sharp but could use a fresh sharpening for ultra precision cutting. Crisply incised maker's mark at one side of blade (features a great axe & butcher's block logo, see 2nd pic). Partial, barely visible maker's mark/logo at handle (zoom into pics 1, 3 and/or 4). Handle is solid & strong with tight brass rivets. Very nice example of a hard to find, beast of a knife!! See pics.
DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:
Measures 18-1/8" long, overall. Blade edge is 12-3/4" long. Handle is 5-1/2" long. Weighs 15.8 oz..
PLEASE NOTE: The inflated shipping cost for this item is to help offset the high price of insuring the package at full purchase price. Please take this into consideration and work it into your offer(s).
