Being offered for sale is the VERY RARE antique SCRIBING GOUGE (in cannel, socket type with nubby handle and iron end-cap/striking collar) by ISAAC RESSLER (stamped "I. RESSLER" over "CAST STEEL" at under side of shaft, see 2nd pic - RARE MAKER!) of Warwick Township, PA, circa the mid 19th century (best guess...as per the very little info available on this scarce tool maker), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. CONDITION NOTES:
Good/VG antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (small dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc.) throughout from normal use over the years but NO major breaks or repairs. Lightly cleaned using wire-wheel, so virtually zero rust but minor pitting throughout. Handle is solid & strong and firmly attached to both socket & end-collar. Blade is a little uneven but mostly smooth, with no visible nicks and is very sharp. Ready to use or display!! See pics.
DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:
Measures 15-3/4" long, overall. Blade is 1-1/2" wide x 3-1/4" long, with an approx. 1/2" deep curve. Handle is 3-1/4" long x 1-1/2" diameter, at end. Weighs 1 lb. 12.8 oz..
