Surveying Equipment

Being offered for sale is the vintage KEUFFEL & ESSER (K+E) PARAGON TRANSIT No. 74-0110 (marked w/ serial number "157271" (but please note that the serial number "159443" marked on the label at interior of box's door does not match the transit...not sure why)) w/ BUILT-IN COMPASS, BASE-PLATE, LENS HOOD & CAP in Original FINGER-JOINTED WOOD BOX (w/ "C & B Blueprint Company" of "Huntington, West Virginia" nameplate at top (see last pic)), from circa 1958 (as per serial number and patent number (see 2nd pic for patent submission document), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

Transit is in Very Good/VG++ vintage condition with one broken (minor) piece (see red arrow in 4th pic) and otherwise, just minor -to- moderate overall wear throughout from normal use. Appears to be complete and fully functional but we are NOT transit experts, so be sure to inspect the pictures carefully and ask questions as needed. Compass points to true north. Glass over compass and at optics are all in great shape. All knobs turn smoothly and preform their respective functions. Both level bubbles are present and accurate. All original japanning. Superb patina to all materials throughout. The original box is structurally rigid & strong but has moderate -to- severe overall cosmetic wear and minor -to- moderate areas of damage. Top latch is broken and missing (bottom latch holds door closed fine). Original leather strap is broken and middle section is missing (both side pieces remain). The Eagle Lock Co. lock appears to be in good, working condition BUT NO key included. Sits flat up on its (4) original hard-rubber feet. All-in-all, a very nice example that would surely clean up amazingly with a thorough detailing and/or some restoration work!! See pics.

Box measures 13-1/2" wide x 16" tall x 9" deep. Total weight is 28 lbs. 0.0 oz..

PLEASE NOTE: The inflated shipping charge on this item are to cover the high cost of insuring the package at full purchase price. Please take this into consideration and work it into your offer(s).
