Messenger Bag

ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Being offered for sale is the vintage/antique LEATHER MESSENGER BAG by unknown maker (no identifiable maker's mark(s) - just marked "Hecho en Guatemala" (translation: "Made in Guatemala") at front-top, under top flap (see 11th pic)) featuring a custom attached (presumably by the original/previous owner) antique BRASS RAILROAD TAG/PLATE that reads "THE PROPERTY OF THE DELAWARE LACKAWANNA & WESTERN R.R." (see 2nd pic for close-up) by the AMERICAN RAILWAY SUPPLY CO. (marked "AM.RY.S.CO. NEW YORK" at top of tag, see 2nd pic)from circa the late 19th or early 20th century (best guess based on internet research - the American Railway Supply Co. produced these tags from 1891 until the 1920's and the "AM.RY.S.CO." marking is believed to be the earlier/earliest hallmark used, dating this tag closer to 1891 than 1920), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

CONDITION NOTES:

Railroad tag is in Very Good/VG+ antique condition with just minor cosmetic wear throughout (small scuffs, scratches, stains, dings, dents, etc.) but NO breaks or repairs and features superb, genuine patina throughout. The leather bag is also in Very Good vintage/antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear throughout from normal use over the years. One side of the shoulder strap is a bit 'chewed-up' but remains strong and is NOT overly fragile (see 6th pic). Otherwise, we see NO major breaks, repairs or noteworthy defects whatsoever. All-in-all, an outstanding old shoulder bag made super unique by way of an ultra rare, very cool railroad tag attached at front! See pics.

Measures approx. 12" wide x 12" tall x 3" deep/thick. Weighs 2 lbs. 2.5 oz..
