Being offered for sale is the vintage ORNATE BRASS & TIGER-STRIPED WOOD 'POLISH HIKING CANE' (also referred to as a Ciupaga, Zakopane, Shepherd Axe and/or Mountaineer Walking Stick) from Poland, more specifically the PIENINY MOUNTAINS (as per incised "PIENINY" at one side of shaft (see 5th pic) - the Pieniny Mountains is a mountain range in the south of Poland and the north of Slovakia) from circa 1980 (also incised at shaft, see 5th pic), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale as-found, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. CONDITION NOTES:
Very Good/VG+ or better vintage condition with minor -to- moderate overall cosmetic wear (tiny/small scuffs, scratches, stains, dings, dents, etc.) and some areas of pitting to the brass at one side (see red arrows in 2nd & 8th pics) but NO breaks or repairs. Head has a little 'play' / a very slight wobble (barely worth mentioning). Completely usable walking stick/cane and/or perfect for display/collecting purposes. Gorgeous piece!! See pics.
DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT:
Measures 33-5/8" tall, tip -to- top of hand-rest (excluding axe blade tip). Top/axe head is 6-7/16" wide x 3/4" thick (at thickest). "Blade" edge is 2-7/8" long. Total weight is 1 lb. 9.4 oz..
