Adze

Being offered for sale is the antique COOPER'S BOWL and/or BARREL MAKING ADZE marked "W. BUTCHER, SHEFFIELD, WARRANTED CAST STEEL" (at underside, see 2nd picture) from England, circa the early 20th century (best guess...possibly a little older), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

Very Good/VG+ antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear from normal use over the years and a 1.5" split at base of handle (see 6th pic for close-up) throughout but otherwise NO breaks or repairs. Steel has light layer of rust throughout, with the top of blade being the heaviest area (see 9th pic). To the naked eye, the blade edge has one small nick and (3) ultra tiny nicks (see 2nd pic...and many others). Blade is sharp but nearly needing a fresh sharpening. The gorgeously aged solid (rosewood?) handle remains very solid & strong, despite the split. Superb patina to all materials throughout. See pics.

Measures 11" tall, overall. Handle is 6-7/8" long. Head is 9" wide. Blade is 2-7/8" wide. Hammer face is 1-3/8" square. Weighs 4 lbs. 3.5 oz..
