Being offered for sale is the antique BRASS BLADE (4 blades, 10 wire cage) & CAST IRON (partial lined/ribbed base, original japanning) 12" ALTERNATING CURRENT "PANCAKE" FAN (2-Speed (though only 1 speed working, see condition notes below),Type UI, Form F 9, 104 Volts, 125 Cycles, No. 46279 & Spec No. 12724), by GENERAL ELECTRIC (G.E.), from circa 1900 (dated using info found at http://earlyfans.blogspot.com/2011/02/ge-pancake-1894-1908.html - see pics 4 & 5 for all (5) patent dates listed on tag), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!

Good/Very Good antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear from normal use over the years (i.e. small dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc.). Looks like cage has been repairs and/or reinforced with solder at many/most connection points (see pics). One of the two wire nuts is original and the other (smaller one) is a replacement. Tested good. Runs smooth & strong with minimal noise but variable speed control does not work. Operates at one moderately fast speed only. If we had to guess, we'd say the slower of the two speeds is working and the faster is not ...but we absolutely could be wrong. Swivels about vertical axis smooth (please note that this model does NOT tilt). Vast majority of original japanning remains, with just small areas of wear throughout. Original, canvas wrapped twisted/braided, extra long cord included BUT is virtually useless with a plug-end (see pics), not to mention that it is dangerous. Being included as a bonus/collector's item. You'll have to obtain an appropriate replacement cord if you intend to use this fan. Superb, genuine patina to all materials throughout. All-in-all, a lovely AS-FOUND example of an increasingly hard to find, highly sought after pancake fan!! See pics.

Blade diameter is 12". Front rim of cage is 11-1/2" diameter and back rim is 13" diameter. Measures 14-3/4" tall, overall. Base is 7" diameter. Weighs a solid 21 lbs. 1.0 oz.
