Being offered for sale is the antique "TORINO" (marked at blade with "RC" inside-an-oval above, see 4th pic) M1871 SWORD BAYONET (also marked "BG 1041" at crosspiece (see 4th pic) & "16" over "17" over "M" at underside of crosspiece (see 5th pic)) for use with VETTERLI-VITALI RIFLES, made in Italy, circa the early 20th century (best guess...pre-WWI, as per internet research), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
Very Good/VG+ antique condition with moderate overall wear. Blade has areas of minor -to- moderate rust and/or pitting and edge remains quite sharp. Superbly rich patina throughout. See pics.
PLEASE NOTE: Scabbard may or may not be original. It does not look like the others seen online. It is made of hard & weathered leather, copper wrapped at each end and has an oval-shaped brass knob. It fits the bayonet perfectly...so much so that we would have never thought it wasn't original until we were unable to find a matching precedent.
Measures 25-3/4" long, overall in scabbard. Blade is 20-3/8" long. Total weight is 1 lb. 12.0 oz..
