Fruit Press
Being offered for sale is the antique, primitive Boxwood, Iron, Tin & Porcelain FRENCH FRUIT PRESS marked "J.L." (at porcelain top piece) and "P.R." (at front of porcelain bowl), from circa the late 19th or early 20th century (best guess...possibly a little bit older), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
Very Good/VG+ vintage condition with minor -to- moderate overall cosmetic wear but NO major breaks or repairs. Structurally solid & strong (please see text in 2nd and/or 8th pics for a note regarding the (now remedied) crooked nub). Fully functional fruit press. Excellent patina to the cast iron crank shaft & cross beam handle top. Very nice, light patina to boxwood throughout. Sits flat up on (4) feet with zero wobble. Top layer of the porcelain at bowl's spout is worn (see 4th pic). Otherwise, bowl has NO chips (nothing bigger than a tiny fleabite or two), cracks or crazing but does have some stains and moderate base-wear (see 5th pic). I count 9 easily noticeable chips at all sides/top & bottom of the porcelain top/press piece (varies from small fleabites -to- ~1/2" in size...see pics 3 thru 6). The tin strainer insert has moderate rust along rim and ~1" down side(s) but is otherwise quite clean. All-in-all, a fantastic example, perfect for practical used and/or as a display/collector's piece!! See pics.
Measures 12-1/4" wide x 6" deep x 16-3/4" tall, when fully cranked down. Total weight is 10 lbs. 3.5 oz..
